Music

When searching the LIBRAWeb, our online catalog, for a compact disc (CD), use the keyword search and type CD or sound after entering the title, musician, or keywords.  This will limit the search to just compact discs or cassettes.

Would you like to know more about how recordings are classified in the library?  We don't use the Dewey Decimal classification for music, but instead use "ANSCR" which stands for Alpha-Numeric System for Classification of Recordings.  In the library catalog, the call number for a compact disc is a series of letters and numbers in four groups.  Each group is called a "term".  Click HERE if you'd like a further explanation of how the music is arranged by type.

If the CD you want is checked out, place a hold or if you can't find it in LIBRA, call the library at (585) 872-7075 and ask a librarian at the Reference Desk for assistance.
